Day in my life as a Software Engineer
Read about my day as a software engineer.
π Morning Routine (8:40 AM - 10:00 AM)
β° I try to wake up as late as possible since I sleep pretty late.
β I'm lucky to have really cool roommates who are kind enough to make me coffee in the morning.
πΏ I quickly freshen up and head over to my home desk, fire up my laptop, and join my daily standup meeting at 9:00 AM.
π¬ While the meeting starts, I scan through my emails to see if there's anything that needs immediate attention.
π£οΈ The standup call usually lasts around 30 minutes.
π§Ό After the call, I take a quick shower and get ready to leave for the office.
π My office is close byβjust a 10-minute drive. I try to reach before 10:00 AM.
β Once I arrive, I make myself a coffee (not the best, I admit π ).
π While sipping on my mediocre coffee, I update my to-do list according to the day's tasks and priorities.
π§ Mornings aren't my most productive time for coding, so I usually start slowβworking on easier tasks or setting up things to solve more complex problems later in the day.
π½οΈ Midday & Work Zone (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
π§βπ» I continue with light tasks or do initial exploration on issues Iβll dive into later.
π Around 1:15 PM, I head out for lunch with my office mates. There's a restaurant in our tech park just 50 meters away.
π Weβre usually back by 2:00 PM, and this is when I really enter the zone β peak focus and productivity!
π₯ This is my most effective coding window, where I get the bulk of the work done.
β Chill Breaks & Wrap-up (2:00 PM - 7:15 PM)
π§ At 5:00 PM, we take a quick break at the office fun zone. A few of us make coffee, relax on bean bags, and just chat and laugh.
β After that, I checkpoint my work β reviewing and committing whatβs been completed so far.
π§βπ» I continue working, usually on: - New features - Add-ons to existing features - Smaller frontend tickets
π Around 6:30 PM, I typically have a sync-up call with my boss.
π I leave the office by 7:15 PM, and it's just a 10-minute drive back home.
ποΈ Once home, I make coffee and relax on the couch, chatting with my friends.
π Dinner & Wind Down (8:45 PM - 10:00 PM)
π½οΈ We usually head out for dinner around 8:45 PM. Eating out is a great time to unwind and have good conversations with colleagues.
π‘ We return to the apartment by 10:00 PM. I take a shower and settle back at my desk.
π Late-Night Hustle (10:00 PM - 3:00 AM)
π‘ From 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM is my me time.
π I use this time to: - Watch YouTube - Learn something new - Work on personal projects - Explore random ideas and tinker with code
π΄ Finally, I call it a day (or night) around 3:00 AM.
βπ Thatβs a wrap! Itβs a bit chaotic, but it works for me. Every day is a balance of productivity, coffee, and late-night inspiration.
